The deadline for new medical marijuana
conditions petitions is December 31, 2020.
The state of Ohio already recognizes 21 individual qualifying conditions that allow a patient to receive an Ohio MMJ card recommendation from a qualifying doctor. Fortunately for those who do not currently qualify for a recommendation, the State Medical Board of Ohio periodically allows for petitions to be submitted. These petitions have the potential to add new qualifying conditions to the list, which ensure more patients can experience the relief they need from their daily symptoms.
The time has arrived for new petitions and additional medical research to be submitted for review. The board will consider properly submitted petitions only for the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program. While submitting a petition does not guarantee conditions or diseases will be added, it does allow patients and their loved ones to have their voice heard.
Petitions must be submitted no later than December 31,2020. Petitions for the same conditions and/or diseases may be submitted by multiple individuals, but the same individual may not submit multiple petitions for the same condition and/or disease. Those who will move forward and submit petitions must keep in mind the following during this process:
- Each condition or disease must be submitted on its own individual online form.
- Petitions received after December 31, 2020 will not be considered.
- Petitions for a broad category of diseases and/or conditions will not be considered.
- Petitions regarding a condition or disease that has already been received and/or rejected will not be reviewed.
In addition, those who will be submitting petitions cannot simply resubmit the same documents that have been submitted in the past. Only documents regarding new, relevant scientific research can be submitted for petitions that have been rejected in the past. Failure to submit only new scientific research will result in the board not reviewing the petition.
Those interested in submitting a petition for the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control program can learn more on the state government’s website.
For the patients who already qualify for an Ohio MMJ card, it truly has never been easier to receive a recommendation from a qualified doctor. Telehealth appointments are 100% HIPAA compliant and allow you to remain safe from the novel coronavirus.
During your telehealth appointment, you will meet with a qualified physician who is permitted to provide Ohio MMJ card recommendations in the state.
